Since 2007 …

Angela, also known as Tran Ngoc Phuong Anh, began her journey in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Growing up, she was known for being so loud that every time she cried, the whole neighborhood awoke. She liked the colors pink and yellow. She watched cartoons on Cartoon Networks and HTV 3. She loved singing, dancing, eating, and spending time with her family. Everyone loved her. They usually praised her nose and were amazed by her high forehead. As for her favorite food? Whatever her mother cooked was always the best in the world. Besides, she was soooo girly and her facial expressions were annoyingly dramatic.

But what will happen when Angela embarks on a new chapter of her life and starts school?

To everyone else, she seemed like just another ordinary little girl, but in her mind, she was the main character in her own special story.

Throughout kindergarten and primary school, she eagerly participated in nearly every activity she could, both in and out of the classroom. At just four years old, her teacher recognized her talent for quickly mastering dance moves, even stepping in to help other classmates during lessons.

Though naturally shy, her parents knew she had a bright spirit and signed her up for every club they could find to enhance her socialization and communication skills—modern dance, modeling, drama, piano, and more. She was living a "Hannah Montana" kind of life: a diligent student by day and a performer on stage by night. With her dance club, she showcased her talents at various events around Ho Chi Minh City, especially during festive holidays.

In school, her love for English and Music stood out, as those subjects came easily to her, unlike Mathematics. While she wasn’t always at the top of her class, she was a quick learner, often receiving praise from her teachers for her neat handwriting and attention to detail.

Angela’s Teenage

Exploring New Interests

As a teen, Angela explored all sorts of activities. Taekwondo became a big part of her life, with over three years of dedication. She also dabbled in basketball and roller skating, though they were short-lived due to the global pandemic. Angela's growing English skills, combined with her extroverted nature and her interest in vlogging and editing, eventually led her to start her own YouTube channel—a creative outlet to express herself and connect with others.

Academic Strengths

She spent over seven years with Acellus, an online high school program, working towards her GED. By the age of 16, she had earned her high school equivalency and scored an 8.0 on the IELTS exam. Angela’s commitment to learning and improving her English skills has been a steady and driving force throughout her academic journey. Besides, she also engaged in an English center for almost 4 years, where she debated, participated in speaking contests, and met professionals like Shark Lê Hùng Anh.

Achievements and Leadership

Angela took the lead in her education as a homeschooler, creating her own study plans, conducting research, and setting personal goals. Being a self-learner from a young age shaped her independence, discipline, and consistency. Furthermore, her love for new experiences drives her to participate in competitions and conferences, where she can socialize and broaden her horizons. Angela consistently shone at her English center, where she not only participated but thrived, securing top spots in every speaking competition she entered.

#2 : An Unforgettable Journey with Maison Chance

During Tet 2023, Angela met Mrs. Trinh, a close friend of her uncle. Impressed by Angela’s ability to communicate and illustrate Vietnamese culture during a family meal, as well as her editing skills showcased on her YouTube channel, Mrs. Trinh entrusted her with a special project. Angela was tasked with creating and narrating a video to document Mrs. Trinh’s trip to Vietnam and share the story of Maison Chance—an organization that provides housing, education, and vocational training to disabled individuals and underprivileged children.

The project spanned several months, evolving from initial planning to the final production. Angela and Mrs. Trinh worked closely, brainstorming ideas, refining the narrative, and ensuring the story would deeply resonate with viewers. They sought feedback from close contacts, secured permission to use Maison Chance’s images, and collaborated with the organization’s U.S. ambassador to help spread the message. This preparation was key to ensuring the video not only highlighted Maison Chance’s incredible work but also contributed to meaningful fundraising efforts.

In an inspiring turn, the video, along with Mrs. Trinh’s compelling speech, helped raise over $10,000 initially, with donations continuing to grow after the conference, eventually nearing $20,000 for Maison Chance.

The journey of bringing this project to life was a deeply rewarding experience for Angela, filled with purpose and creativity.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, transportation restrictions and panic buying left many citizens without access to essential food supplies. Farmers faced challenges as they were unable to sell their crops, resulting in significant waste and financial loss. In response, a series of campaigns and charities emerged to rescue these crops, ensuring they didn’t go to waste while also providing food to those in need. Angela was actively involved in one such project, where she worked with her neighbors to connect struggling farmers with communities in need, turning a time of crisis into a moment of solidarity and hope. Through this initiative, they helped rescue crops, support farmers, and provide food to countless families impacted by the pandemic.
